Innova has been doing the trick for Toyota in India since it was launched back in 2005. It replaced the Toyota Qualis which more or less captured the entire taxi market of India. Since then it has seen changes in 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2015. With already 5 models in play, Toyota has decided to extend the Innova heritage with an all new model which is rumored to be launched on November 23, 2015. This MPV will most probably be showcased in the 2016 Auto Expo along with the all new Fortuner.

The upcoming Innova will house a 2.4 litre engine from the GD series. This 2GD-FTV engine produces 148bhp with a high torque of 40.78kgm. The 2.8 litre version of this series , which is employed in the 2016 Fortuner produces 175bhp and 45.9kgm of torque. 2016 Innova borrows its underpinnings from the new Fortuner which is based on Toyota’s Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform. By the look of this upcoming car, it seems to be longer than the 2015 model which could imply more space for the passengers in the second and third row. The car looks a lot more streamlined and aerodynamic in shape with bold chrome accents on the grille which outline the new tail light cluster. The new hexagonal air dam adds to the aggressive look of the MPV.

The current generation Innova has come a long way. The 2015 model remained same Mechanically but a major update was the addition of standardization of airbags across all variants. Other changes were a new front grille, a touch of Sporty Moulding on the sides, rear Chrome Back Door Garnish and outer mirror cover with turn signal indicator.
