Audi India to Launch A3 Tomorrow!

Showcased at the Indian Auto Expo in Feb, Audi A3, the most economical Audi offering will be launched tomorrow. The pricing is expected to be in the vicinity of Rs. 25 lakh. Creating a lot of buzz, A3 will compete with the entry level luxury brigade like Mercedes Benz A class and BMW 1 series; but being a sedan gives A3 an edge in the segment. Moreover, the company also showcased a cabriolet version of the A3, it is expected to come later. Audi A3 hatch is also reported to coming in the subcontinent.

Audi India has already started the production of the new A3 at their joint facility with Skoda in Aurangabad. A3 is coming to India as CKD (Complete Knocked Down) units. The sedan looks fairly loaded with some of the goodies on board like bi-xenon headlamps with day-time-running-LEDs, a seven-inch infotainment screen that pops out of the dash, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, rear view camera, MMI touch and navigation, S-line body kits, to name a few!

Engines

Petrol: The petrol variants of the Audi A3 are powered by 1.8L TFSI motor (Turbo fuel stratified injection ). The motor extracts 180bhp and 250Nm of max torque mated to a seven speed S-Tronic transmission. The powertrain propels the sedan from naught to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds.

Diesel: The diesel trims are powered by 2.0L TDI turbo diesel. The motor gathers 143bhp and max torque of 320Nm mated to a similar seven speed S-Tronic transmission. The powertrain propels the car o to 100km/h milestone in 8.3 seconds, a tad slower than the petrol counterpart.
