Could be introduced in the country in 2017 at a price point similar to that of the A3

Audi has once again teased the upcoming Q2 compact crossover. Well technically, this is the first time the German automaker has released teaser images of the crossover, the previous teaser had nothing to do with the actual vehicle. Globally, it will sit below the Q3. It is most likely to have its public debut at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor Show and can be revealed online prior to the show. Audi Q2 will go on sale later this year in the European market and it is expected that it will be launched somewhere in 2017 in the Indian market.

The overall design will be in line with Audi’s SUV lineup (of course!). The teaser reveals nothing, however, it subtly hints the head and taillamps of this upcoming compact crossover. The teaser picture showcases its LED daytime running light, which is very much similar to the facelifted A6 with matrix LEDs. A similar story has been seen with the taillamps graphics as well. Moreover, it will likely to have Audi’s new single-frame grille, which we have seen in the second gen Q7 and facelifted Q3.

In terms of engine options, it will come with a range of TDI along with TFSI turbocharged diesel and petrol engines. Speaking with respect to India, it is expected to share its engine options with automaker’s entry-level sedan A3. The petrol will have the 1.8-litre 40 TFSI, while diesel will have the 2.0-litre 35 TDI. Transmission options would include 6 and 7-Speed S-Tronic automatic and like the Q3, the base variant of Q2 could be offered with a 6-Speed manual! It will also offer the Quattro all-wheel-drive though, except this it will come as standard with front-wheel drive setup.
