Auto-maker to go greener and cleaner

As the major-car makers around the world are eying on manufacturing electric, hybrid and fuel efficient cars, the Indian car market is all set to witness a series of launch of new electric and hybrid and new age low cost fuel efficient cars. All of these cars have a common objective of cutting-down the emission level to a very low level.
The most talked about upcoming small car this time around is the Ultra Low Cost car from Bajaj-Nissan-Renault partnership, which is expected to be launched in India by the starting of year 2012. The car will be developed at the Bajaj's two and three wheeler platform in India, while the sales and marketing of the car will be handled by Renault and Nissan. It is expected that the car will be launched in India with a price tag of $2500, though there is no confirmation from any of these three companies. The car will be providing a high mileage of 30km/l with a considerably low CO2 emission.
With this, Renault Twizy, which was among the show stoppers at the Delhi International Auto Show in January, is also expected to be launched in Indian market in coming years. The Twizy model is basically an electric-car with a uniquely designed body and first of its king technology. However, there is no announcement from the company's side regarding the launch of this car in India till now.
In the segment of Hybrid cars, the Honda Civic hybrid and Toyota Prius are among the most sought-after car models in India. Moreover, the electric versions of existing popular cars are also ready to take the Indian route, including Tata Indica Vista Electric, Chevrolet Spark Electric.
