Maruti Suzuki India’s Manesar plant seems to be jinxed because its woes does not seem to be ending. A few days ago, on October 1, it announced that the labour impasse is over and the matter has been resolved with the management. However, close sources have revealed that today casual workers are protesting against Maruti’s decision to bar them from entering the plant. These banned workers are those casual workers who supported permanent workers during the 33 days long strike. According to worker sources, the company has not allowed casual workers to enter the factory since last week.

However, Maruti India spokesperson just mentioned that the company is gradually ramping up its production at Manesar (especially Maruti Swift), including the new 2.5 lakh capacity Manesar B assembly plant. In this regard he added that most of the contract workers are likely to be absorbed in the expanded operations.
