Chevrolet Captiva facelift to break cover at 2012 Auto Expo

Amidst the new launches and growing competition, the auto companies are working hard to keep up with the growing demand for fresh models with latest technology. Observing the trend, General Motors India is envisaging launching the revamped version of Chevrolet Captiva at the Indian Auto Expo in 2012. Since its launch two years back, the demand for the crossover is reported to have fallen to 150 unit sales each month. The Chevrolet Captiva facelift is believed to adorn a redesigned fascia with new bonnet design, divided rectangular grille and new rectangular headlamps.

The 2012 Chevrolet Captiva had been displayed at the 2010 Paris Motor show, which was expected to be introduced in India in 2011. However, the latest reports confirm that General Motors have postponed the launch to 2012. The other modifications in the SUV include the LED turn signals on the side rear view mirrors, a plush three row seating layout and an ice-blue back light. The standard comfort and safety features that are expected from a premiere SUV are all included beginning with the USB ports, touch screen navigation system, parking cameras, ABS, ESC, BAS, TCS, hill start assist and electric hand brakes. Chevrolet Captiva is believed to house a 2.2 L VCDI engine generating 163 Bhp peak power.

There are flurry of changes taking place in the car market of late in the crossover segment. Renault has recently launched their new offering in the crossover SUV segment with Renault Koleos, while the other luxury car manufacturers are gearing up to introduce new crossovers. BMW for instance is expected to launch BMW X1 in 2012 and to counter BMW, Mercedes-Benz is said to develop a SUV based on the Modular Front Platform (MFP) for 2013. Honda on the other hand is likely to launch the revamped Honda CR-V shortly and Audi Q3 was spotted during the test rounds recently spiralling the speculations of its upcoming launch.
