Looks like General Motors India doesn’t have enough breathing space with its hands full with new car launches. Not just one or two, but the auto major has at least four new cars up its sleeve for 2012 and one is going to be the new Chevrolet Trailblazer. The SUV made a grand debut after its recent makeover in November 2011 and selling outrageously in the markets abroad.

But, the new SUV launch is not all that General Motors India has in its mind, the auto major is hoping to have a localised assembly of the new Chevrolet SUV at its Halol plant in Gujarat from where it operates its CKD operations. This means that the Indian consumers can breathe a sigh of relief to have at least a partial benefit in the Chevrolet Trailblazer price which is supposed to be a notch lesser than its closest competitors Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner at Rs 17 lakh, but before we get into the pricing details let’s check out how powerful the new Chevrolet Trailblazer is going to be.

Sporting a 2.8 L and a 2.5 L diesel powertrains without even a possibility of a petrol engine, the new SUV is definitely going to put some pressure on its rivals Endeavour SUV and the Fortuner in India. The two mid-sized SUVs are synonymous for their power-packed 3.0 L diesel engines, but the Chevrolet SUV takes a huge leap in its peak torque output generating the exceptional 47.8 kgm while the maximum power is by no means any less with the blood thumping 180 Bhp and 150 Bhp on the board.
