The much awaited, Chevrolet Sail U-VA hatchback is finally here, General Motors India today launched the vehicle in India's fastest growing segment. The Sail U-VA has come out in a total 7 variants- four petrol (Base, LS, LS ABS and LT ABS) and three diesel (LS, LS ABS and LT ABS) in a price bracket of Rs 4.44 lakh-5.57 lakh and Rs 5.87 lakh-6.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) respectively.
While the petrol version, houses the similar 1.2-litre, Smartech engine, used in company's flagship hatchback, the Beat, the diesel models derive power from the celebrated 1.3-litre multi-jet turbocharged diesel mill that also powers many of its competitors including the Swift, Punto and some more. As far as the fuel economy, both petrol and diesel versions return an impressive mileage of 18.2kmpl and 22.10kmpl respectively.
And having a bunch of exciting features like best-in-class cabin space, integrated Audio system with Radio, MP3 and CD player, Power adjustable outside mirror, Dual Airbags, Anti-lock Braking (ABS), 12 spoke 14-inch alloy wheels, and many others, the all new Chevy Sail U-VA hatchback will certainly take the competition a level higher.
So to clear your doubts that which hatchback to go for?, CarDekho presents you a detailed comparison between the all new Chevrolet Sail U-VA and its closest competitors including Maruti Suzuki Swift, Toyota Etios Liva, Nissan Micra and Ford Figo on the basis of three most important factors pricing, looks, mileage and engine performance.
Chevrolet Sail U-VA vs Maruti Suzuki Swift
The toughest competitor against the newly launched Chevrolet Sail U-VA will be the Maruti Suzuki Swift, which is the top-selling vehicle of the segment. At the pricing and mileage both are alike or stand at the same level, in fact both use the similar fiat sourced 1.3-litre Multijet engine in their diesel variants. But when it comes to looks and features, Maruti Suzuki Swift comes out as a clear winner, however the plastic quality used for Swift interiors is not as good as of the Sail U-VA.
Chevrolet Sail U-VA vs Toyota Etios Liva
Toyota Etios Liva is in the other closest rival against the Chevrolet Sail U-VA, which is doing really well for the company ever since it was launched. In terms of pricing, It is the Etios Liva that takes the lead, although difference is not much. Then comes the mileage, while petrol models of both offer the almost similar fuel economy, Toyota Etios Liva diesel gets an advantage there with the fuel economy of 23.59kmpl.
Looks-wise, Etios is certainly one of the better looking cars in the segment, so it scores more there as well. But in terms of engine performance, both the petrol and diesel engines used in Chevrolet Sail U-VA are way better than that of the Etios Liva's engines. In fact in terms of features as well, the Sail U-VA diesel is more rich, the Etios diesel doesn't even have some essential features like alloy wheels, Music System, Fog lamps and some more. So Chevrolet Sail U-VA is a better value for money car in comparison to Etios Liva.
Chevrolet Sail U-VA vs Ford Figo
The most awarded car of the segment, Ford Figo that has recently received a facelift, is one more close rival of the newly launched Chevrolet Sail U-VA for so many reasons. While in terms of pricing and looks, Ford Figo scores more, the Sail U-VA has got the better mileage figures and more powerful engine performance to offer to its customers. But when the discussion comes to a value for money product, one would like to go for the top end variant of the Figo and get more features rather than the Sail U-VA, whose entry level variants cost equal to top end variants of the former.
Chevrolet Sail U-VA vs Nissan Micra
Nissan Micra is no doubt one of the best options available in the segment, it looks better than the rest, offers top-notch space to its customers, however lesser to that of the Sail U-VA. It also return an impressive 23.08kmpl of mileage, which is again more than the Sail U-VA, although the petrol variants of both produce almost similar mileage. But in terms of engine performance, the Sail U-VA scores more, in fact the NVH level of Nissan Micra's diesel model is a huge drawback with the car. Still, Nissan Micra is a more plush and premium product than the Sail U-VA.
