General Motors will raise the curtain from the Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV next week at the Bangkok Motor Show. Chevrolet has chosen Thailand for the global revelation of this SUV as the country is one of the biggest light truck markets in the world. In the markets of Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia the Chevrolet Trailblazer would be contending with the SUVs like Ford Endeavor and Toyota Fortuner. Chevrolet would be bringing this SUV in India through CKD route which would be assembled at the Halol facility of the company. Chevrolet claims Trailblazer to be the most clean-sheet SUV designed in the company’s history of 100 years. As revealed in the images of the production version, Trailblazer is surely a looker with a perfect blend of muscle and finesse. The bonnet is a bit raised with a two-part grille prominent in the front, the headlights have been muffled a bit to make room for the conventional fog lamps.

The SUV has been supplied a ‘body-in, wheels-out’ style which has been designed at the company’s South America Design Centre in Sao Caetano do Sul in Brazil. The car is made more sporting with a pulled beltline, dropped roof and pillarless rear. The large wheels with the six alloys spokes finish the SUV on a tough, unbreakable note. According to the Director of Design Matt Noone, the Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV is a proper seven-seater with the authentic third row that allows passengers comfortable long trips. On the inside the SUV flaunts a wide cabin that can classify for a medium-size truck in the US. The dashboard resembles a luxurious car studded with all car-like features; the seats are very spacious and comfortable. The Trailblazer is wider than the cramped Toyota Fortuner and is also more spacious from the inside than the Ford Endeavour.

The specifications of the Trailblazer are as impressive as the exteriors and interiors. This SUV drives power from either the 2.8-liter, 180 BHP or the 2.5-liter, 150BHP diesel unit. The SUV also uses a variable-geometry turbo, a balancer shaft for fluent drive and other impressive features like a laminated-steel oil pan. The 2.8-liter common rail engine drives a massive 47.9 kgm torque which is 10 kgm more than that of the 3.0-liter Fortuner and Endeavour. Chevrolet will most probably start off with six-speed automatic gearbox too. Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV is expected to be priced very competitively in the Indian market and is expected to be a high achiever since it has every thing that it takes to be a winner.
