Deepa Malik's epic drive 'Will on Wheels' headed to Pune

Arjuna Awardee Deepa Malik longest ever recorded Pan India drive by a paraplegic for the Limca Book of World Records, starting from Chennai has reached Belgaum. After Bangalore, it is the second major pit-stop on the route. The epic trail will cover 9 major cities and a distance of over 3000kms will be concluded in Gurgaon in a span of 10 days. The convoy now headed towards the next destination, Pune.
The road drive at present has two Renault Duster, one with Deepa Malik and the other with our journalist travelling the country. These two are followed by a car full of students who have designed the car to her specifications. The convoy reached Belgaum on the 23rd night, and the entire team took to a morning drive to the Syndicate Bank, Nehru Nagar at 10:00 am for the official flag-off by the Bank officials supported by the AIEBA team. Having driven 505 km from Bangalore to Belgaum, she reached the bank to receive a formal flag-off from the officials.
From the bank her convoy went to the Rotary Corporation Sports Academy where swimmers from Belgaum joined them to honour the team. Deepa Malik and her team was honoured by Mr. Umesh Kalgaktgi who has been a coach to her and her counterparts in swimming. There were also present Mr. Raghavendra Anwekar who is an Asian medallist alongwith Mr. Rajesh Shinde who has crossed the English channel and belong from the group of para-athletes who represent India internationally. The pair has represented India alongwith Deepa Malik in the Asian Games.
