Duster helps Renault to gain 13 fold growth in May

Ever since Duster SUV launched in India, the Renault sales started growing up dramatically. And the same impact of the SUV is also visible on the company's sales of May 2013. The French automaker has announced a steady year-on-year growth of more than 13 fold in May, despite a shrinking domestic market. The company sold 6,300 units in May 2013, compared to 482 units in May 2012.
Sumit Sawhney, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Renault India Pvt. Ltd said, “In spite of challenging market conditions, Renault continues to pursue a strong focus on growth in India, with an aim of at least doubling last year’s sales in 2013”. He further said that “The growing acceptability of Renault brand among customers is being driven by our strong product portfolio and extensive dealer network, while the Renault Duster continues to retains the top spot as the most popular SUV in India. With such strong pillars of growth, we remain confident of our continued success in the Indian automotive market in the near term.”
Renault India sold a total of 6,300 units in May 2013, and the major chunk of the sales comes from the Duster SUV, which accounting for 5,146 units. The rest of the sales comes from Scala 670 units, Pulse 410 units, Fluence 71 units and Koleos 3 units.
