India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India is planning to roll out the replacement of its not-so-successful product SX4, which according to our sources will be unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo. The launch might happen sometime in mid 2014. The said replacement is the same Suzuki YL1 (code-name) which has been spotted several times earlier.
Design of the new model will be inspired from the Suzuki Authentics concept, which was showcased at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, earlier this year. The platform on which the new sedan will be built is of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga's. Also, the interior design, components and engines could be shared with the Ertiga and Swift.
The YL1 sedan is likely to sport the same 1.4-litre K2 petrol engine, fitted in the Ertiga, which is capable of churning out the maximum power output of 94bhp, and 130Nm of peak torque. Diesel version of the car is likely to retain the same 1.3-litre DDiS mill that churns out the maximum power output of 89bhp. The similar engine also does its duty to the Ertiga MPV.
The spy shots of the YL1 also reveal that it shares dashboard design and black and beige colour scheme with the Ertiga. We expect the SX4 to share several features as well with the Ertiga and Swift, though new sedan being a more upmarket product can carry more advanced features.
This is all what we have for now, stay tuned to CarDekho for all the latest updates on the same. Cheers!
