Fiat seeking support from Tata for its small car

Fiat Auto India Limited aims to roll out its small car model in the country by 2012 with the support from Tata Motors in its production. The car will be designed according to the Indian market. Fiat is currently considering about its engine options for the small car model. Fiat’s India-bound small car model may be designed jointly by Indian and Italian auto designers. Fiat is aiming to make the car price competitive by localizinglets s nearly 75-80 percent of components such that the car can be placed below Rs 4 lakhs.

About seeking support from Tata Motors Fiat India Automobiles President and CEO Rajeev Kapoor commented that Tata Motors were their front-end partners in distribution. So they were taking a lot of help from them in taking customer feedback and understanding their needs so that they could be incorporated into the small car.
