Ford is heavily promoting its EcoBoost series of engines and has introduced its latest 1.0L engine lately. This three-cylinder engine is designed to power Ford’s small cars across the world. It is hoped that since the engine powers small cars, Ford could introduce it to Ford Figo or at a later stage to Ford Fiesta. The Ford EcoBoost 1.0L engine is powerful yet economical. The engine has a turbocharger and direct injection. The engine also has twin independent variable camshaft timing that adds to its capability of being more fuel efficient.

With such features the engine also delivers performance similar to a four cylinder 1.6L engine. Higher fuel economy is also achieved due to the offset crankshaft in the engine coupled with the split cooling system that has been indigenously designed by Ford. The new cooling system lets the cylinder block to warm up first than the cylinder head thus the engine delivers top-notch performance and fuel economy even in cold conditions.

An exhaust manifold cast decreases the temperature of the exhaust gases thus keeping the fuel-to-air ration perfect. The new engine is also lightweight and it operates smoothly. The engine was introduced first in Ford Start and later it was also seen in Ford B-Max which was on display at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
