Ford Figo and Ford Fiesta to be exported to Nepal

Ford India which started its production in India in 1996 is a fully owned subsidy of Ford Motor company. Ford India is the 6th biggest car manufacturer in India. The Indian car market has given an accelerated growth to the company. Now with expansion plans to grow further more, the auto marker is planning to start the exports of the compact car Ford Figo and sedan Ford Fiesta to Nepal and has extensive plans to cover the Himalayan region by opening numerous dealerships.

Ford Figo is a preferred car in the compact segment that ranges between Rs 3,49,900 to Rs 5,29,900 (ex showroom, New Delhi). Ford Figo is available in two models petrol and diesel engines each coming in four variants. The petrol engine comes with 1.2 litre engine producing 71 Ps and 102 Nm of peak torque. The Diesel engine offers 1.4 litre Duratorq diesel engine generating maximum power of 69 Ps and 160 Nm torque. The four variants are Lxi, Exi, Zxi and Titanium.

Ford Fiesta is available in both diesel and petrol engine at a price range of Rs 6,23,000 to Rs 8,21,000. The petrol version comes with a super 1.6 litre Duratec petrol engine with five speed manual gearbox which ensures high speed and excellent fuel efficiency. The diesel variant is equipped with 1.4 litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine along with two-stage fuel injection system with APC. Michael Boneham, the President and Managing Director, Ford India, happily said that the company is very excited with the new dealership in Nepal. The company plans to bring the Ford Figo and Ford Fiesta model in the Nepal market. The new showroom of Ford in Nepal is called “GO Ford”. The dealership will offer widest range of products from the compact cars to sedans and also SUV. The sports wheeler the Everest and the pick up truck Ranger will be imported from Thailand. After South Africa, Nepal is the second biggest export market for Ford Figo. As many as 7,000 compact cars are sent to the Himalayn region. Since the launch of Ford Figo in March, 50,000 cars are already running on road which has helped to gain the momentum in the market. One lac Ford Fiesta have been sold after its launch in the year 2005. As per Mr. Boneham, the company is sure to create the same value in Nepal. The company has seen a continuous growth in the Indian market and are optimistic to create the same value in the Nepalese auto market.
