Ford Figo to be exported to 50 new markets

The Indian unit of US based leading car maker Ford Motor Co's will start exporting its recently launched compact hatchback Ford Figo to as many as 50 new markets from India starting from next year, said Mr Joe Hinrichs, President for Asia Pacific and Africa region in the company. With this, the company has also issued a statement according to which it would export Figo to the United Aarab Emirates and north African countries.
The Figo model was launched in the country in the month of March this year and has turned-out the best selling model in the company's India portfolio. In the first seven months of this year, the company managed to sell as many as 46,751 units of its cars in the Indian market with a large number of sales coming from Figo model. The company has reported a four fold increase in its sales to 8,739 units in the month of July as compared to 2,146 units sold in the same period last year.
The company has managed to receive bookings for as many as 29,000 units of Figo model in the Indian market. The Figo model is available in four variants in both diesel and petrol versions in the Indian market. The Figo variants includes Figo Exi, Figo Lxi, Figo Zxi and Figo Titanium. It is available in the price range of Rs 3,49,900 - Rs 5,29,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). The petrol version of this car comes equipped with the all new 1.2L, 1196cc SEFI engine which is capable of producing a maximum power of 71 PS along with a peak torque of 102 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel version of the car carries a 1.4L, 1399cc Duratorq diesel engine that is capable of generating a peak power of 69 PS along with a maximum power of 160 Nm.
