Ford India and Changan discuss expansion in India

Changan automobile producing group of China, is the fourth biggest car manufacturing, is also called as Chana. Seeing the rise of the Indian automobile industry, Changan earliar stated that, the company has intentions of establishing itself in the Indian auto market. The automaker is keenly interested in entering the Indian arena. With this interest, they have started looking for partners for ventures. Changan has offered Ford India with a deal and expressed its desire to expand its dealerships and thus wants Ford India to sell its commercial wheelers from its dealerships which they will set up in the local market. President, Chongqing Changab, Zhang Baolin said that, the company is in discussion with Ford and that they want to use the American car manufacturers network to spread across the country. However, nothing has been finalized as yet, between both the car giants. Not revealing much about the cars the company wishes to enter the Indian market with, he added there is no final deal, they are still in talks with Ford and it will be very early to comment.

General Motors India has a deal with Chinese auto manufactures SAIC, in collaboration with which it will launch LCVs in India. Both the auto manufacturers in India, will introduce Wulling vans of LCV versions. In India, Wuling brand will be produced and assembled with the local manufactured Fiat Multi-jet engines. Changan has plans to contest on the similar grounds. They are planning to come with light weight and mini commercial trucks. The talks between Changan and Ford are still continuing are the decision about badging the vehicles to be sold in India with Changan or Ford name is going on.

Moving on to the American maker Ford. The company has shown a great hike in the auto market. The sales of the Indian arm of US auto giant Ford was a commendable 7,925 units.

Indian goverment has estimated that yearly wheeler sales will just be double by 2015 accounting to a whooping 3 million. This will surely give rise to economy as it will generate jobs and inflow of wealth in the market.

Changan and Ford, currently sell and manufacture cars in India through a joint venture called Changan Ford Mazada Automobile. Zhang says that, the joint venture is doing well. Mazada Motor Corp and Ford are ending there partnership and are seprately affiliating with Changan in China.
