In the initial half of the present fiscal year, during the period of April-September, auto major, Ford India has registered a 237 per cent jump in sales with total sales of 47,902 vehicles as against 14,209 units that were sold in the same period previous year. Also in the month of September, the company enjoyed good sales with around 8,380 units that was up one hundred and forty six per cent in comparison of the 3,405 vehicles that were sold last year.

This surge in sales of Ford India was driven by constant demand for Ford Figo which was launched in the month of March and which showed a good sales record. It is also expected that Ford will surpass the 50,000 production milestone that coincides with the beginning of the festive season.

The other important information from the company is that Ford Fiesta 2011 is ready to have a fabricated and reformed dashboard which can be controlled with the help of a cellphone keypad. Though Ford Fiesta, when it arrived in the American market, had a new feature of dashboard, the phone selected by it was not trendy and new for its time. Moreover it couldnt compete with the iPhones and Motorola Droids. The dashboard controls were also outdated. As the mobile phones advance speedily than automobiles in the cosmopolitan era, the Ford phones indicated out of date technology.

Also, the company is planning to come up with 8 new Figo models in another five years as this model has helped the company in tripling its sales in the recent months, stated Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford Motor India. The carmaker is now planning substantial investments in India for becoming a major player in coming years. Ford India has also worked out a formula for the Indian consumers and the Indian consumers have responded well to this formula. Ford India has analysed its cost of ownership equation also. Boneham said that Indians want a product which provides value for money and not a cheap vehicle.

I own a Ford Ikon 1.6 ZXI for the past 6 years...2 days back with lot of confusion in my mind i have booked a Ford Figo 1.2 Zxi...The reason that dwindles in my mind is the service availability here in Nasik. Wasan Ford closed down somewhere in 2005 and later there was no service available for 3-4 years and Thanks to Moharir Ford opening up in 2008. Today after i see lots of praises by all of you for Ford doing so good in the market, i expect that Nasik too gets more of sales & service stations. Hope to send this message to the Ford management in Chennai. Chetan Rao....9823115546
