High demand for Panamera puts Porsche in pressure

As the Indian automobile industry registered record braking sales figures in the month of January, luxury car manufacturers like Porsche finding it tough to catch-up with the boosting demand. There are many contributors to this rising demand including Delhi Auto Show which was organized from 5th to 11th of February in New Delhi. Almost all super luxury car manufacturers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz showcased and launched their new luxury car models at the event.
Porsche, a German automotive manufacturer of luxury high performance automobiles reportedly said that company is finding it tough to meet the rising demand of its luxury cars in India. Company fears that it may not catch-up with the high-demand of its luxury sedan Porsche Panamera in the country. According to the company an unanticipated rush of customers for Panamera sedan made it difficult for the company to supply sufficiently. Panamera model comes in a whooping price range of Rs 1.4- 2 crores.
As many new luxury car models launched in India in the month of January, the buyers of this segment are rushing hard to become the first proud owners of these cars. Car manufacturers like Audi had already received unexpected number of bookings of its R8 model which is yet be launched in India. Similarly Mercedes-Benz has already received 5 bookings of is super luxury model Mercedes SLS-AMG (costs around Rs. 2 crore).
Luxury car manufacturers in India are trying hard to capitalize on this rising demand with lots of customization offers which can cost upto Rs 10 lakh in addition to the base price of the model. Porsche is offering around 100 types of customizations in its cars.
Hot new car launches in coming months includes Ford Figo by this month end, Volkswagen Polo by end of March and Tata Aria by April first week.
