Honda to unveil 2013 Accord coupe concept at Detroit Auto Show

Honda Motors seems to be pretty excited about the upcoming Detroit Motor show. Out of some interesting concept models lined-up for the show, the most exciting one that demands the utmost attention is the 2013 Honda Accord coupe concept car. Getting down to the brass tracks, as we do not have much to talk about at the moment, the concept car is going to be a two door version of the popular sedan. Apparently, there is an option open for a hybrid engine for this two door coupe. The car can be basically operated in three different modes given the plug –in hybrid engine.

One is the gasoline-electric mode, while the second mode is the all-electric mode where the car zooms into motion solely based on the electric motor. In this mode, the car is capable to cover a distance of 15 miles at a single battery charge. The third option is a unique one called the direct-drive mode.  As for the timelines of the launch, the Honda Motors might head for a global launch towards the end of 2012. Launched way back in 1976, Honda Accord has survived the tough market conditions without a single blotch on its impeccable image. This is the ninth generation model of the unbeatable Honda Accord track record to take the form of 2013 Honda Accord coupe version. Honda Accord has managed to add many feathers to its cap during this long journey.

One of which is the Highest Intial Quality award from the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 according to the relevant study conducted. It is the 2012 Honda Accord version that has bagged this prestigious title. So, the Accord Coupe version has an impressive lineage behind it and the 2013 coupe model is only to mark the beginning of many more such cars to come. It is however, too early to speculate if the coupe version will make it to India and even more far-fetched to think in the lines of what price tag the coupe will carry if Honda India launches it in the country.
