By the next 3-4 years, Korean will have in their arsenal five utility vehicles including soon to be launched ix25 compact SUV and already launched i20 Active and Santa-Fe
Hyundai has strong presence in the small car segment but the Korean manufacturer was missing in the utility segment for long. According to a report, Hyundai India is planning to launch its debutant MPV by 2017 - codenamed IP and a premium SUV (most likely the new ix35/Tucson) by 2018. The new Hyundai MPV will tackle the growing competition in the segment while the premium SUV will sit below the Santa-Fe rivaling majorly with Mahindra XUV5OO. These two products along with the i20 Active, soon-to-launch ix25 and Santa-Fe makes a total of five utility vehicles in next couple years for Hyundai.
With the launch of ix25 and new Tucson, Hyundai will have its entire global range of SUVs in India
Speaking of the products, first product in the spree is already launched - i20 Active, while next will be the ix25 - launching around August. About the MPV - it will adorn the Hyundai Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy, prices will be competitive and are expected to be in the vicinity of Ertiga and Mobilio. Expect Verna’s engine for the Korean people puller.
The premium SUV which is referred here is the discontinued Tucson from the country, Hyundai mulling to re-launch the SUV in India to pit it against the XUV5OO. The automaker had revealed the all-new Tucson couple of month ago and it will go on sale globally later this year.
