As the company is gearing up to launch for the electric vehicle, Hyundai has released a couple of sketches of both exterior and interior of theIoniq, to give us some detail. The first sketch of the Ioniq’s exterior points to a more pleasant design with a fastback kind of rear end while the interior image shows a neat dashboard with a minimal layout. The Hyundai Ioniq will make its world premiere in Korea in January, following a showcase to a wider audience in March at the Geneva Motor Show and the New York Auto Show in March.
Hyundai has already announced that the Ioniq will be made available with a choice of three powertrains - full electric, plug-in gasoline/electric hybrid and gasoline/electric hybrid. This will be the first car to offer such a powertrain choice. Though built on an exclusive new platform that was developed to handle these particular powertrains, the Ioniq will have Hyundai’s signature design elements such as hexagonal grille that blends into the distinctive new headlamps featuring integrated 'C'-position lights.
The interiors of the Ioniq get a smooth, clutter-free theme with a logical approach for the layout of control switches. The car gets its name as a combination of an ion, which is an electrically charged atom (also tipping the hat to the car’s electrified powertrains) and Hyundai’s acknowledgement of a fresh new approach for low-emission model.
And to answer your question in mind, no, the Hyundai Ioniq will not be coming to India. Let’s solve our diesel problems first. Watch this space for more details.
