Hyundai entered in the country with Santro – India's first feature loaded hatch, then they came up with i10 (replacing Santro worldwide) repeating the success of Santro in India. Last year the Koreans launched the second generation of i10 globally dubbed as Grand i10 in India taking the success of its predecessor to whole new levels.

Although they discontinued the Santro and i10 worldwide but in India all-three co-exist and are running strong. After getting firm grip in the hatchback segment, Hyundai entered the raging sub-4m entry level sedan segment with Grand i10 based sedan – Xcent (the name carries the goodwill of Accent!). Within two months of its launch, Xcent races to second position in segment defeating Honda Amaze.

Launched in March'14, Hyundai, India's second largest auto manufacturer, sold 6663 units of Xcent in the month of April'2014. The vehicle is currently attracting waiting period of approximately 2 months both on petrol and diesel. Xcent along with Grand i10 drove Hyundai into 12.8% increment in sales last month.

The success of Xcent relies behind the first in class features and efficient and potent engines. The sedan offers several enticing features like, first in class one gigabyte built in storage infotainment system with host of connectivity options – USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth phone connectivity, automatic air-conditioning, diamond cut metal finish alloy wheels, engine start stop button, first in class reverse parking camera with park sensors, the highlight of all segment first both for Grand i10 and Xcent is the rear air conditioning vents.

The car is powered by a 1.1 U2 CRDI three cylinder oil burner gathering 71bhp at 4000rpm while a a maximum torque of 180Nm at engine speed in between the range of 1500 to 2750rpm. The diesel is coupled to a five speed manual transmission which returns an impressive certified fuel economy of 24kmpl. On the petrol front, the i10 borrowed 1.2 liter Kappa 2 VTVT is a punchy motor churning out a modest 82bhp at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 114Nm at 4000rpm. Hyundai discontinued this engine on the i10 while Grand also caries the same. For the petrol trims, Xcent offers two transmission options; a five speed manual and four speed automatic gearbox.
