Hyundai Russia showcases the Verna facelift (known as Solaris in Russia) at the ongoing Moscow International Auto Salon 2014 – MIAS 2014. The facelifted Verna is expected to launch early 2015 or by the end of this year in India, while the car has been previewed in Russia couple of months ago and is already on sale there. The sedan is coming with a fresh new face and spruced up rear along with better mechanicals.
Speaking about the changes, Verna gets a new dual-port grille, broader projector headlamps, fog lamps with day-time-running-LEDs. Furthermore, the side profile of the car is exactly similar to the current car, even the diamond cut alloys are retained (they are surely timeless!). At the rear, Verna gets LED taillamps and new rear fog lamps on the bumper. On the inside, the interiors are retained except subtle tweaks.
Mechanically, the Solaris (Our Verna) is unchanged, the sedan continues to be powered by the same 1.4 and 1.6 liter diesel and petrol engines. The 1.4 liter diesel belts out 88.8bhp and 220Nm of max torque, 1.4 liter petrol churns out 105.5bhp and 135Nm of torque. While the more powerful 1.6 liter duo – 1.6 liter diesel pumps out 126bhp and 260Nm of max torque, the 1.6 liter petrol pumps out a modest 121bhp and 155Nm. The Russian version gets a new 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, except the similar alternation in the Indian facelift.
