The recently revealed 3rd generation Tucson will fill the void between Hyundai Creta and Santa-Fe. It will be a re-launch, as the Korean automaker used to sell the 1st generation Tucson almost nearly a decade ago. 2016 Tucson will be launched in coming months, most likely, around mid of this year. In an interview with us, Hyundai India stated, the car will come through a CKD route (local assembling), with over 50 percent localisation. The starting price is expected to be in the vicinity of Rs. 17-18 lac.
Starting with engines, the Tucson comes with two diesel options in the UK, along with a petrol motor. It is fairly evident that Hyundai India will bring the 2.0-litre diesel in the country. However, the automaker further elaborated and stated the upcoming budget will clear up the matter a little, as vehicles with displacement over 2.0-litre are already banned within the capital. The vehicles with larger displacement, might just take an upward swing with the incoming of the upcoming budget. To counter this, the company might also offer a lower displacement diesel option.
Specs
- Engine - 2.0-liter CRDi (It comes in two states of tune)
- Power - 136 PS / 185 PS
- Torque - 373 Nm/ 400 Nm
- Transmission - 6-Speed MT/ 6-Speed AT
- Drivetrain - FWD/ AWD
Speaking of features, the new Tucson comes with Hyundai's 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. The instrument cluster offers 4.2-inch MID screen. Globally, it also comes with a smart power tailgate (tailgate opens automatically). Moreover, it offers LED projector headlamps, along with LED taillamps. It rides on diamond cut alloy wheels. Besides this, it will offer a host of safety features and multiple airbags.
