Rumor has it that Jaguar is looking at building a new factory for engine construction in the UK. At present, every Jaguar sold in the U.S. comes with an excellent 5.0-liter V-8 engine. But because of the rising prices, the Jaguar XJ and Jaguar XF are all prepared to receive a brand new V6 by 2014. Inflated fuel prices have affected the luxury car market as well because of which most of the manufacturers have taken a step forward for entering into level V6 for the less spirited chauffeurs.

It is expected that Jaguar’s new six-pot to produce significantly more power, something comparable to the 300-plus-hp engines from BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. The engine would then be used across all global markets, replacing the Ford-based 3.0L V6.

The expected power will be around 300 bhp and Jaguar is targeting 11.9 kmpl. This seems sensible to step onto petrol model with less focus on performance and more on fuel efficiency which can reduce the inflated price problem to minimal upto a greater extent. But for the ones who want to do a bit of spirited driving can opt for engines with larger amount of power at a higher price point.
