Jaguar XE Launched at Rs. 39.90 lacs

British automaker, Jaguar has launched its compact sedan, XE, at the ongoing 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The car features a Rs. 39.90 lacs (Ex-showroom Delhi) price tag, which will definitely help it go head-to-head with the likes of BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-class. The automaker opened bookings for this sedan throughout the nation, about a month ago and considering that this is the most economical offering by the luxury automaker, it has garnered substantial interest in the market.

Under the hood, Jaguar XE is available in 2 turbocharged petrol variants. The standard 2.0-litre petrol unit produces 200PS of power and 320Nm of peak torque, whereas the more gruntier variant uses the same 2.0-litre powerplant, which has been tweaked to deliver 240PS of power output and 340Nm of peak torque. To put things in perspective, one must understand that the arch rivals of XE like BMW 3-Series and Audi A4 deliver relatively inferior power outputs of 187PS and 177PS respectively.

Adding to the performance stats is the car’s lightweight construction. Jaguar XE incorporates a light aluminium monocoque chassis that goes hand-in-hand with the powerplant, to bestow this sedan with an acceleration time of 0-100kmph in just 6.8 seconds (in 240PS variants). The impeccably quick eight-speed automatic transmission and lightweight construction make Jaguar XE one of the most fuel-economical car in its segment.

Inside the cabin, Jaguar aims to redefine luxury with XE and offers a plethora of accessories, which are not just limited to heads-up display but also include an 8-inch InControl infotainment system, maps sourced from the SD card-based navigation along with Bluetooth connectivity.
