Mahindra has introduced a new 2WD High variant for the Alturas, priced at Rs 30.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With this, the SUV maker has also halted bookings for the 4WD variant now, in addition to the entry-level 2WD. So now, the Alturas is available only in a single, fully loaded variant.
The new Alturas 2WD High variant borrows all the featured highlights of the SUV from the 4WD variant. It’s now covered in a black/tan interior theme, as opposed to the black/grey shade of the earlier base variant. In terms of features, it gains HID projector headlamps, a single-pane sunroof, powered tailgate, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, memory function for the driver’s seat, and nine airbags, over the entry-level 2WD variant.
Other features onboard include an eight-inch touchscreen system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, AC vents for all three rows, and nine airbags.
The Alturas is powered by a 181PS/420Nm, 2.2-litre diesel engine, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission as standard. It also gets a rear-wheel drivetrain now, as the four-wheel drivetrain is on hold. It rivals the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq, serving as a more affordable option.
