Mahindra S101: What We Know So Far!

Mahindra is all-set to introduce the S101 tomorrow, it is one of the most important launch for the automaker as the vehicle will be revealing Mahindra’s new petrol family of engines! 

Though Mahindra is hit worst by the Delhi diesel ban, but the company will be revealing its petrol engine clan tomorrow with the new S101. The 'new SUV’, as the company is calling it, is expected to be in the vicinity of Rs. 4-7 lacs and will launch next month. The vehicle is yet to get a name, however, there’s a word in the market that Mahindra will call it KUV1OO. It is probably the very first product in the micro SUV segment (a segment below the Sub-4m SUV space). The next product that could enter in this space would likely be Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Let us see expected specs and features of upcoming Mahindra S1O1.

Mechanicals 

• 1.2-liter Petrol: It will be a brand new 1.2-liter engine, co-developed with Ssangyong, most probably a 3-cylinder unit. Expect the power to be around 80 PS and torque close to 115 Nm
• 1.5-liter mHawk: This engine will be borrowed from the recently launched TUV3OO, might be a diluted version
• Transmission: Both the engines will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission while 5-speed AMT (Automated-Manual Transmission) from TUV3OO is most likely to be offered

Features: 

• Mahindra has teased the S101 with daytime running LEDs 
• Looking at the previous spy shots, the vehicle will be a six-seater with the front middle seat can be folded and used as an armrest featuring cup-holders 
• The infotainment system will most probably share features with the one in TUV3OO like Bluetooth connectivity, USB, AUX-in, Mahindra Blue Sense App integration, Intellipark  reverse assist, voice messaging service
• Mahindra's Micro Hybrid tech is also expected on the S101
