Maruti India rolls out 150 cars from Manesar

Maruti Suzuki India ramped up the production at its Manesar plants and managed to produce a total of 150 units on Saturday. The country's largest car producer Maruti Suzuki India is leaving no stone unturned to get its production in a healthy shape. Manesar plant has a maximum production capacity of 1200 cars, it manufactures models like Maruti Swift, Maruti A-Star and Maruti SX4 everyday. But ever since a standoff has started between the workers of the company and the management, production has suffered big time in company.

The company has informed that another batch of 150 people have joined the production operation at the first unit in Manesar. Maruti Suzuki India has also started a Plant B in vicinity of older plant on Friday. This plant will take on the weld operation for Maruti. The company also brought in 125 ITI- trained and experienced professionals taking the toll of employees to a total of 800.

But it is evident that the rift between workers and management still continues on the 8th day of standoff. The production at the Manesar plant has been greatly affected since Monday after Maruti Suzuki India decided to force workers to sign a 'good conduct bond' before entering the factory premises, following alleged "sabotage" and quality of cars produced last week. Since then, the company has dismissed 5 permanent workers; suspended 26 permanent workers and terminated the services of another 18 trainees.

Maruti Suzuki India has suffered immense loss of revenue till now. With a production loss of about 5625 cars till last Monday, the company has relinquished over Rs. 280 crore. Adding to the grief the company's hot hatchback Maruti Swift is in a long waiting list all over India and rivals are taking complete advantage of this opportunity by launching new models and giving a major facelift to their fairly performing cars.
