Maruti India to rev up production to 17.5 lakh units annually in next 2 yrs

The country’s largest auto maker Maruti India has its plans set for India. Maruti India has decided to gear up its annual production in the next two years. The report came in after Maruti India's Managing Executive Officer of production division reportedly told this to press in an interview. He also said that a third plant of Maruti India is in the pipeline which is going to be up and functional in coming two years, taking production from its current 13 lakh units per annum to 17.5 lakh units in two years from now.

Mr M.M. Singh, managing executive officer of production department, Maruti India has informed that this leap in the production of the vehicles will take place in two steps. The current plants in Manesar and Gurgaon have the production capacity of 13 lakh units, which will be increased to 15.5 lakh units per annum, once the another plant becomes operational in the coming four to five months, eventually taking the production to 17.5 lakhs after the third plant starts functioning. Maruti Suzuki India has invested about Rs 1700 crore to set up this second plant which is expected to be functioning in coming five months.

The new Maruti Swift price is likely to be higher than its current version due to its technical changes made for good and is also expected to be lighter than its current version. The new Maruti Swift price is expected to be in the region of Rs 5 to Rs 7 lakhs.
