Maruti Suzuki Celerio now gets airbags and ABS for all variants

Maruti Suzuki has announced that all the variants of Celerio will get dual airbags and ABS as an option, including the base version. The Celerio was launched in 2014, introducing and making the AMT technology popular and has sold over 1.3 lac units so far since its debut. Maruti Suzuki has priced the Celerio with airbags and ABS from Rs. 4.16 lacs ex-showroom Delhi.
Mr. R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Through Celerio we have always tried to offer the best to customers. By offering safety features like airbags for driver and co-driver, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) from the base variant onwards in Celerio, we are making it more attractive for customers. I am happy that we are able to offer these safety features on Celerio much ahead of regulations.”

Celerio is also the first car in the Maruti Suzuki stable to get the compact 800 cc diesel engine, making the Celerio the only car in its segment to come in three fuel options - Petrol, Diesel and CNG. The petrol Celerio is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine putting out 67 hp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. The 800-cc diesel engine makes 47 hp at 3500 rpm and 125 Nm at 2000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is available for all the three engine options while a 4-speed AMT is available only for the petrol version. Tata Zica, Celerio's biggest rival is equipped with 1.2-liter Revotron, 3-cylinder 4 valve MPFi petrol engine, capable of producing 85PS @6000rpm and 114Nm of peak torque @3500rpm. Also, it comes with a 1.05-liter Revotorq, 3-cylinder, CRAIL diesel engine that delivers 70PS @4000rpm and 140Nm of torque in the range of 1800-3000rpm.
