Maruti Suzuki plans to increase the production capacity at its Manesar facility

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest car maker company said it is planning to increase the production capacity at its Manesar facility, and a decision on this is likely to be taken in a day or two.

The Manesar facility of the company, which manufactures Maruti A-Star,Maruti SX4, Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire, has a capacity of 3 lakh units a year and last month crossed 5 lakh units mark in production within 35 months of its commercial operations.

The company's efforts at improving productivity, helped in making reasonable profits despite the impact of higher commodity prices and a weaker rupee. The company is investing up to Rs 1,500 crore in building test tracks and an R&D center in Rohtak, Haryana.
