    Maruti to cross 10 lakh sales figure mark in FY09-10

    Maruti India, India's largest car maker is all set to cross the 10 lakh vehicle sales mark in ongoing financial year 2009-10. After achieving this sales figure, the company will join the league of top car manufacturers in the world whose sales are more than 1 million vehicles
    annually including Ford, GM, Renault, Toyota and Volkswagen. Maruti India has already sold more than 9.3 lakh vehicles in the period of April 09 to February 2010 and company is expecting that it will cross the 10 lakh mark by the second half of the this month.

    Mr RC Bhargava, who is Chairman of Maruti India, said that Suzuki wanted to be a part of the celebration and would be joining us in a
    formal ceremony on March 23. It is expected that Osamu Suzuki, Chief of Suzuki, who was a key in taking Suzuki to Indian market two decades back, will also join the ceremony.

    Maruti India currently has more than 54% market share in Indian market, far ahead of its competitors like Hyundai and Tata Motors. The strong small car base of Maruti India is facing tough competition, as many major car makers has launched their car models in India including

    Volkswagen Polo, Ford Figo, Chevrolet Beat and Tata Nano. Maruti India currently sales more than half a dozen vehicles in India including Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Eeco, Maruti A Star, Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Maruti Zen Estilo, Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti SX4 and Maruti Grand Vitara. Maruti is also exporting its A-star model in markets like Europe and South Asia.
