Maruti to restore production from Monday

Maruti Suzuki India will restore production from Monday, despite the situation remains unresolved. The labour unrest had started on August 29th and since then the production at the Manesar plant has hindered including their most popular hatchback Maruti Swift. MSI's sister concern Suzuki powertrain Ltd has also called the strike, due to which the manufacturing plants at Manesar will be closed down on Friday. Saturday being an official off on the occasion of Vishwakarma day, the work at the plant is expected to begin from Monday onwards.

Though the daily production of Maruti Swift had reached 500 units on last Monday, the production on Thursda came down to 220 units on Thursday apart from the other facilities which got affected were engines, casting, two-wheelers and car production. The company has not compromised in terms of discipline and still expects the employees to sign the good conduct bond. During an agitation on Thursday morning, 11 supervisors at the plant were hit by few of the workers, though the workers have denied their involvement in the attack.

As one of the worker was detained by the police and was allegedly injured, the employees are apparently looking to file a counter suit against the management. Out of 1500 permanent employees in the MSI plant, only 95 of them were reported to have signed the bond and Maruti India management had decided to replace the unrelenting employees with the new workers to get back to the initial production capacity at the plants.
