Maruti workers get support from other automobile unions at Manesar

The country’s leading auto manufacturers, Maruti India’s problem does not seem to come to an end. It is reported that a dozen more worker unions from various auto manufacturers are extending their support to the industrial commotion caused by the workers of Maruti Suzuki India. This havoc is caused due to the Indian auto major’s prerogative to make the workers sign the good conduct bond.

Maruti India does not seem to be giving in to the pressure caused by the industrial unrest in the Manesar-Gurgaon-Daruhera region and still continue to go ahead with the good conduct bond. This unrest as of now could however, threaten to lead to a major strike in future. It is said that around 2500 workers including the representatives from leading automobile manufacturing plants like, Hero Honda, Rico Auto, Omax Auto, Endurance, FCC Rico, GKN Ltd are all gathered at the Manesar plant to protest against their respective companies as a tool down protest.

Sonu Gujjar, the president of Manesar plant’s Maruti Suzuki Employees union is believed to have commented that the permanent employees from the Gurgaon plant and the employees union from the Maruti Suzuki India’s subsidiary, Suzuki powertrain India have also joined the protest and hoping to have more employees join their struggle. The General secretary of Suzuki powertrain employees union, Rajesh Kumar is also reported to have said that, as the company has not come up with any solution yet, they are planning for a tool-down protest against the auto manufacturer.

The Maruti India’s sales is said to have suffered by 13 % in the month of August, this year, due to the disruption caused in the auto manufacturer’s Manesar plant, where the car models like Maruti Swift, Maruti SX4 and Maruti A star are currently being manufactured. Maruti India had recently launched its new Maruti Swift that has been a best-selling hatchback for the company.
