Maruti's Manesar plant to resume production today

According to recent developments in Indian auto Industry, Maruti Suzuki said that production of Maruti cars will recommence at Maruti’s Manesar plant today as the strike of workers has finally ended. Maruti India official said that normal production will commence from Saturday since the 13-day long strike has finally ended. As per the reports, an agreement is signed between the management and the representatives of agitating workers that Maruti Suzuki will reinstate all 11 dismissed workers and workout a moderate measure on implementing no-work-no-pay rule.

It is worth mentioning that the agreement was negotiated by the Haryana government, clause regarding the main demand of formation of a union is not mentioned in the agreement, which in turn allowed administration and workers to make contradictory statements. General Secretary of newly formed Maruti Suzuki Employees Union's (MSEU), Shiv Kumar said that the reason behind no declaration of the second union in the agreement is due to the fact that the management has nothing to do with the formation of a union. On the same matter, Senior Maruti India official said that main demand of strike is not accepted by the management. It is worth mentioning that workers of Maruti India’s Manesar plant went on strike on June 4, owing to the demand of formation of new MSEU comprising of workers working at the Manesar plant.

Additionally, workers said that they will commence the work after taking a day off and will start the regular work on Sunday which is usually a weekly off so as to compensate for production loss during the strike. However, Maruti India suffered a production loss of 12,600 cars and Rs. 630 in revenue due to the 13-day strike. Furthermore, as the news of strike ending after 13 days spread in market, Maruti India stocks elevated nearly 4 percent in the morning session trade of Bombay Stock Exchange.
