Mercedes Benz does not offer any of its models in the same segment as that of BMW X1 crossover. Mercedes Benz is currently involved in developing its mini-SUV Mercedes Benz GLC, which will only be able to compete against BMW X1 in 2014, until then Mercedes Benz B-Class is however going to be a stop-gap arrangement.
The Mercedes-Benz intends to place the B-Class hatchback lower than the BMW X1 price to woo the consumers towards the luxury brands. The Mercedes Benz B-Class that had been globally successful, is going to be made available in the market in both the petrol and the diesel variants and hopes to do well in the Indian market as well.
