Update: Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the GLC class at the on-going 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The vehicle had made its world premiere around mid last year and is expected to be launched sometime later this year.

Mercedes Benz India will be showcasing three new products at the upcoming Auto Expo, namely the GLC SUV, Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard and the S-class cabriolet. Announcing the Auto Expo line-up, Roland Folger, managing director, Mercedes-Benz India said, “The Auto Expo is the much-awaited platform for manufacturers, automotive enthusiasts and customers and it has been growing in importance with each edition. This year Mercedes-Benz will showcase its range of 'winning' products and we are excited to unveil the much awaited GLC and the S-Class Cabriolet. The Mercedes-Benz pavilion will be an amalgamation of innovation in design, vibrant energy and will reflect modern luxury which is core of the brand ethos of the Three Pointed Star. Customers and enthusiasts can expect some real excitement and fascination at the Mercedes-Benz pavilion."

Mercedes-Benz India sold 13,502 units in 2015, bringing it back to the no.1 spot in the domestic luxury car market after a gap of 5 years.

GLC SUV

GLC SUV

Mercedes unveiled the GLC internationally last year. The front end of this baby SUV bears the family face, with a C-Class esque headlamps, a massive twin-slatted grille and loads of chrome at the front. Round to the side, the GLC has a wheelbase of 118mm longer than the outgoing model. The GLC pulls off the SUV look effortlessly, thanks to the large glass area, flared wheel arches and subtle touches like the silver roof rails. The rear keeps it simple with large, wrap-around taillamps. Mercedes has integrated the antenna into the external mirrors and the spoiler, thereby eliminating the stubby antenna stalk for good. We expect the Indian spec to get two diesel options, the 220d with 168bhp and 250d with 201bhp, both from the familiar 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine. We expect it to be priced under the 50 lac mark.

S-class Cabriolet

S class cabriolet

The S-class Cabriolet pays homage to the legendary S-class Convertible that got phased out in the1971. The car is expected to be powered by the same motor from the S-Class Coupe, a 4.7-liter V8 that produces 453 bhp of max power and a hefty torque rated at 700Nm.

Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard

The S600 Guard can be termed as the most luxurious armoured vehicle available right now. Reinforced body shells, double-plated welds, along with toughened and thickened glass bullets make the S-guard capable to take on explosions, grenades and mines.

Mercedes-Benz will display in its pavilion the special Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS, F1 team's FIA World Championship title winning car.
