The strike at the Manesar factory of Maruti Suzuki India continues resulting in the production loss of 1000 units in a day. The reports suggest that the plant was able to produce only 1800 units as opposed to the production capacity of 2,800 units in a single day due to the strike at the Maruti Suzuki PowerTrain Ltd. The labour unrest at the Maruti Suzuki PowerTrain Ltd since Friday has hampered the supply of the components including the diesel engines and transmissions for the unit production at the Gurgaon plant. The company is said to incur a loss of 1, 215 crores due to the strikes at the plant. The strike at the Manesar plant continues to an undetermined period of time as the management and the workers are not agreeing on the demand for reinstating the 44 dismissed workers.

The workers apparently requested the management to take back the 1000 contract labourers as well. The workers fear that the production at the company might suffer further with the ongoing strike at the plant. All the three plants of Maruti Suzuki India work in tandem and the production of the components hit at one plant affects the rest of the vehicle production, there-by delaying the whole process. The year 2011 did not prove to be quite favourable for Maruti India with the labores at the factory calling the strike for one reason or the other. This is the second time, the workers have called the strike. The 13-day strike in June had impacted the company’s sales to a great extent. The present strike at the plant had been triggered on August 29th, when few of the factory workers indulged in sabotaging the operations at the plant.
