The small car wizard, Maruti's premium hatchback Maruti Swift is basking in glory prior to its launch by cloaking a whopping 38,000 bookings till date. The new Maruti Swift which is all set to launch on August 17, 2011 is grabbing eyeballs with the staggering response this mini wagon has received so far. This apparently is the first time ever a car has created such hysteria by fetching humungous booking numbers way before its official launch. Expressing views over this phenominal pre launch response,Mayank Pareek, managing executive officer (marketing & sales), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), said that the company is overwhelmed with the galore bookings it has received so far for the new Maruti Swift. He further added that the kind of response Maruti has received is unparalleled as the company has not yet revealed the new Maruti Swift price.

Last fiscal Toyota also roped in12,000 bookings for the Toyota Etios sedan before its launch, however the company had revealed the price as well as the prototype before the car aficionados. New Maruti Swift specifications reveal that the 2011 Swift is longer, spacious and sports voguely designed interiors. New Maruti Swift will come affixed with a plastic fuel tank making the new Maruti Swift more frugal than its antecedent. Maruti will start rolling out the new Swift effective August 2, 2011 at its Manesar plant. Maruti Swift ever since its launch helped fuelling Maruti's sales in India and the trend continues till date. With the launch of the new Maruti Swift hatchback, the company envisages to further push the sales number in the coming months.

As per the industry experts, Maruti Swift accounted for 24% share of the premium hatchback segment leaving behind Hyundai i20 with 15% and Ford Figo with meagre 12% sales.At present Maruti accounts for 57% of the hatchback segment, in 2010-2011 Maruti's market share in the premium hatchback segment was 48% which the company eyes to ramp up to 53% with the new Maruti Swift launch.
