New Swift Sport basks in glory at the Frankfurt Motor Show

The ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show is adding more fanfare and sportiness to itself as Suzuki is grabbing all the attention for its all new Suzuki Swift Sport. High performance and deftness are the two words that can be attributed to this new hatchback under the hood of ‘Swift’, a name conquering car markets around the globe for last couple of years. A definite agile vehicle, Swift Sport is not making its trip to Indian roads as of now but it can definitely arrive in the country in future. New Swift Sport is made on the same platform as its predecessor albeit a lot many fresh features dress up the Sport hatchback.

Overall look has been changed and the exclusive aerodynamic parts on the new Swift Sport to control the airflow, renders the car a lower visual centre of gravity from front and suppresses lift on breakers and holes. The large front grille, finned fog lamps, high intensity discharge lamps with metallic grey coating and new design rear combination lamps all adds to the newness of Swift Sport. Red colour stitching on the steering wheel cover, seats and gearshift cover is making the cabin look like a complete sports arena. The instrument cluster gives an uncluttered look with the five dial meter. The six speed manual transmission gearbox has replaced the earlier version of 5. Otherwise the interiors are more or less untouched from the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Swift.

Seven airbags along with driver’s knee airbag and a host of other safety features have paved the way for a five star safety rating in the European New Car Assessment Program. Suzuki Swift Sport is powered by a M16A engine delivering a massive 136 PS of power at 6900 rpm with 160 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm. Stricter norms at European roads had led the Sport to display better environmental compatibility with reduced CO2 emissions of 147 g/km. Wide body and a short wheelbase of 2430 mm allows Maruti Swift Sport to take extremely sharp turns.The lighter 17 inch alloy wheels are standard with the new Sport. No doubt this track scorcher as well as a balanced road car, will get a very good response in car market. It is expected that new Swift Sport price will be tagged at around Rs 6.5 lakh.
