Another important revelation has taken place at the Beijing Auto Show 2012, but this time it is not a car or an engine or a new concept, it is a brand. The Japanese auto giant Nissan works collaboratively with the Chinese company, Dongfeng and under this joint venture a new brand known as Nissan Venucia has come into existence. The companies launched this brand at this year’s Beijing Motor Show. The name Venucia is derivative of the ancient Roman name for the God Venus. Adorning the stands of Nissan Motors is the Nissan e-concept which is based on the Nissan Leaf and is expected to be built in China from 2015.
Another grand addition to the Nissan’s line-up is the D50 saloon which is expected to go into production pretty soon at a new plant of the company is Zhengzhou. Hustling under the hood of this car is the 1.6-liter petrol engine and the company will be selling this car through 100 dealerships in China. Dongfeng is eyeing the D50 saloon as its game-changer when it comes to high-class global manufacturing. According to Mr. Ren Yang, Deputy Director of Dongfeng Nissan, the company wishes to sell around 300,000 cars every year and also to hit one million sales within five years. The company gets an opportunity to enhance the engineering capability and also move towards the goal of bringing out a new product every year.
