Positive auto sales to continue for long

Auto companies would enjoy a good sales figures in the coming months as registered last month. The main reason of this trend is upcoming festival season. It must be noted that generally third quarter of every year brings a good sales in all the sectors in the country as a number of main festivals and marriages fall in the period. In the last month, July, Maruti Suzuki posted a 33 per cent growth in sales of 78,074 cars. While overseas sales increased 87 per cent to 10,546 cars in the same month. The contribution of new models of Maruti Suzuki like A-Star and Ritz, Swift and WagonR remarkably well in the premium hatchback segment. Premium car maker Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) posted a 12% increase in sales to 4,857 cars in July. The major jump came from flagship model Honda City, of which 3,268 units were sold in July, while sales of the superhatch Honda Jazz also boosted growth. Utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra’s sales grew 27% to 21,957 vehicles in July, on the back of strong demand for its Scorpio, Bolero and XYLO vehicles. An auto analyst with HSBC Bank told on anonymity that passenger car sales is expected to increase in the festival season. Top two wheeler company in India, Hero Honda, targeted to sell over a million bikes in the July-September quarter.
