Mumbai had its first taste of Formula 1 with Red Bull when David Coulthard sped down the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in his RB5 F1 car in 2009 to give fans the racing thrill, up close. Hundreds of F1 fans got a first hand experience of seeing the Red Bull Racing car zoom across at an amazing speed. Red Bull is once again set to give Mumbai a brand new F1 experience when it hosts Red Bull Racing Can, giving Mumbai auto enthusiasts a chance to test their engineering and design skills.
Red Bull Racing Can is a university racing series, where the youth of the city show-off their fresh talent. It is a worldwide event, where 12 teams compete per location on a set course with custom remote control cars. But to ensure fair play, the chassis of all cars are the same. It's the body of the racers, aerodynamics and particularly design that makes the difference. And that's where tin metal joins the race! The body, aerodynamic features and design is made of the Red Bull cans. Because when it comes to the scores in this race, a can can make a difference!
It's the challenge for engineering geniuses and daredevil-racers alike. All the participants need to do is use their engineering skills and create an outstanding remote control racer. Then what comes is the true F1 like experience. They just have to hit the asphalt and navigate their car through the corners of the track in tricky and daring overtaking maneuvers to become the Indian Red Bull Racing Can champion!
However, it's not enough to be the first across the finish line. Points are also awarded based on creativity and how cool your mates think your design is. These points could determine the starting position on the grid for the team, which is extremely crucial!
Once we have our city winners, they will then head to Delhi to compete against the rest of the city winners from Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune and Delhi itself. To reward the city winners for their accomplishment we give them what could possibly be the best reward. All of them get to meet a Red Bull Racing driver and interact with him.
Now if that wasn’t already enough, the overall champions will be flown to the Red Bull Racing headquarters in Milton Keynes, UK. They will compete there, with the national champs from 24 other countries in the Red Bull Racing Can World Final and also get a glimpse of where the real magic for the Red Bull Racing team takes place. It’s an event unique enough in its own way, where the youngsters get to experience what goes into designing and racing an F1 car, with the World Champions. We would love for you to be a part of this event, and maybe even design your own car while you are at it. You never know Vettel might just think your car looks the best.
