Renault astonished everyone with the reveal of their small car Kwid. With 98 percent localization, the company has managed to bring it in a price bracket of INR 2.5 to 4 lacs. Despite this low price, it isn’t something that we are used to see in this particular segment. Because, when cars like Alto 800, Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Spark end up looking like small cars, Kwid is reminiscent of a compact SUV. The reason for this out of the box thinking is its elder sibling Duster and the manufacturer’s understanding of Indian car buyer that they have acquired with extensive research. Let’s put some light on the design elements of Kwid and its resemblance with Duster.

Exteriors
First up, Renault made a dedicated team that could make out what the people wanted, something they had done with the Duster too when they were preparing to bring it to India. But, unlike Duster, Kwid is completely developed in India, for us as well as for the whole world. Developing this, the French automaker has kept the basic concept of 'more car per car' in mind and designed Kwid to look like a class higher than its actual one. Its exterior cues could be related to those of Duster like the prominent wheels arches, a strong front end that hints at a sturdy stance of an SUV. Moreover, body cladding, squared-off headlamps and high loading lip (apparently) further indicate towards its Duster-ish looks.

Like Duster’s cabin, small car Kwid also gets an airy one with large windscreens that allow its occupants to feel comfortable. The setup is simple, another character that you find in the Duster. It's less tacky nature will make it more user-friendly.
With the launch of Kwid, Renault has entered in the mighty small car segment and the chances are that it might repeat the success achieved by Duster. It is expected to turn out as a game changer for the manufacturer and a better small car for its buyers.
