Toyota is giving Fortuner a major ground-up makeover and it appears to be opulently loaded to take on its upcoming rival Ford Endeavour
Next-gen Toyota Hilux has been spied recently inside-out, wait, we were discussing Fortuner, right? Well we are, Hilux is Fortuner’s pick-up twin sibling and they share faces and cabin! Reportedly, Toyota will reveal the next-gen pickup in a couple of months, before the Fortuner this year.
Now, let us start with the Fortuner’s cabin first, as we are seeing in the images - the Hilux/Fortuner cabin looks upmarket compared to what Japanese automaker is giving currently - an Innova's modified one. What you will be getting now, a dashboard that is more inclined in terms of design with Corolla’s flamboyant dash. And that’s not bad at all! The highlight of it is the protruding fat touch screen with tactile buttons, will be good for navigation. The instrumentation cluster is similar to that of the Corolla and it gets all the flashy piano black inserts like the sedan. Not to miss, Corolla like AC louvres. It will also get new less-chunkier multi-function steering wheel.
Looking at the Hilux’s front fascia, next-gen Fortuner will now be in-line with what Toyota is making nowadays. And what Toyota is making nowadays is - larger swept-back headlamps and a chunkier multi-slat chrome grille that is in symphony with the headlamp units. Look the picture above. Speaking of the lighting, Fortuner will get Bi-xenon or LED along with daytime running LEDs. Hilux/Fortuner’s new diamond finish alloys look classy.
PS: Expect similar slightly toned down interiors on the next-gen Innova too, just like they share bits and pieces currently.
