There have been multiple speculations doing rounds regarding the launch of Skoda Citigo hatchback. Initially it was rumoured to be introduced at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo where most of the automobile manufacturers introduce their new cars. As per the spources close to development, the Skoda Citigo hatchback is said to make its debut in 2014 after the launch of Volkswagen Up!. Skoda India will make its entry into the A+ segment of the car market for the first time with Skoda Citigo hatchback to confront competitors like Maruti Alto and the recently launched Hyundai EON.

The Skoda Citgo price in India is expected to begin at Rs 3.5 lakhs, whith such low price tag, the new car is expected to work miracles for the Czech auto major and can help enhance its brand image in the country. Skoda Citigo hatchback is the rebranded version of the upcoming Volkswagen Up! sharing more than a few similarities with the latter. Skoda India has harnessed the resources of Volkswagen’s manufacturing unit and the components in developing Skoda Citigo to benefit substantially in cutting down the production costs. This has helped the auto manufacturer in placing the price of the new car more competitively and explains the resemblance of Skoda Citigo interiors with Volkswagen Up! in terms of the dashboard and the steering wheel appearance.
