Skoda Citigo to make its official debut at 2012 Geneva Motor Show

The subcompact segment of the global car market is growing at a rapid rate. First it was the very stylish and intelligent, Volkswagen Up! and now it is Skoda’s Citigo. Skoda Citigo is based on the similar platform as Volkswagen Up! but Skoda has given its compact car more style and great poise. Towards the end of 2011, Skoda launched Skoda Citigo in its home ground and has been doing a great business in Czech Republic. But at the Geneva Motor Show 2012, which is scheduled to take place this March, Skoda will showcase the five door version of Skoda Citigo for the first time ever.

Skoda Citigo truly justifies the brand’s tagline ‘Simply Clever’. This car ranks high amongst the roomiest and the most compact hatchbacks present in the market today. Apart from this, Skoda has sprinkled some very exciting features, like document holder, photo holder, variety of net holder and a bag hook on glove compartment. This time, Skoda’s design engineers have kept their focus on the safety of the car and managed to grab the five stars in the Euro BCAP crash test.

Under the hood, Skoda Citigo is powered by a three cylinder petrol motor, which pushes hard and manages to deliver an impressive mileage of 100 km per 4.1 litre whereas generates 96 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer. The three door and five door version of Skoda Citigo will be launched in European car market by the mid of May 2012. The firm also aims to amplify its global supplies to at least 1.5 million units per year by 2018. What adds more charm to the car’s reputation is that Skoda Citigo seized the title of ‘Car of the year 2012’ in Czech Republic, which is certainly an impressive thing. The launch of Skoda Citigo in Indian car market is still unknown.
