The Czech automaker, Skoda has rolled out 500,000th Yeti from their Kvasiny manufacturing facility, one of ŠKODA’s three production plants in the Czech Republic. Skoda introduced Yeti globally in 2009 and in 2013 the compact SUV received its mid-life update. The automaker says that the vehicle is produced in Europe, China, Russia and India.
“Achieving a production figure of half a million ŠKODA Yetis is yet another milestone for the Kvasiny plant”, says Michael Oeljeklaus, ŠKODA Board Member for Production and Logistics. “Since its introduction, the Yeti has delighted customers in Europe and on the international markets. We owe this success not least to the team in Kvasiny. It is with their technical skills, their expertise and the highest commitment that they essentially shape the excellent reputation of the plant. Over the next few years, Kvasiny’s production volume will increase significantly. SUV production is going to play an important role in this.”
Detailing its production, In addition to the production in Kvasiny, the ŠKODA Yeti runs off the production lines in China and Russia. In China, the Yeti is produced locally at the Shanghai Volkswagen plant as an extended version for the Chinese market. In Russia, production of the compact SUV is carried out in cooperation with the Russian manufacturer GAZ Group at the Nizhniy Novgorod plant. Speaking of India, Yeti is assembled locally here through CKD kits at Skoda India’s manufacturing facility in Aurangabad, Maharastra.
